I've been promising. So it's time. This should feel like an HGTV TV show. A totally renovation in 30 mins. Or in our case, like 5 mins to scroll through this blog post. Ahhh so easy, right? So easy? Oh gosh this was not easy. The dance of confidence, directness, kindness, assertiveness, and empathy while working with contractors all at the same time is truly a real art. Luckily I've had some epic role models and a LOT of trial and error. But enough of me, right? Let's see pictures and learn who these amazing people/companies are who got the job done.

Ready for it? Lets GO!

So many thanks to these amazing contractors for their hard work, patience, and skill! We recommend all of them! The best compliment we could give them is more work, so please reach out if you need help too!

So move aside Angie's List.... this is MARCY'S LIST. And it's WAY better!

1) General Contractor. Our guy- William! Please don't hire him. We want to keep him all to ourselves. No seriously... ok fine. I'll share. Reece loves him too: His company is Jericho PDC Inc. No website. He works by word of mouth. And he stays busy! I guess that is proof he's doing it right. Licensed and insured. Call him- 240-595-5132.

2) Kitchen Design and Materials: Reico in Frederick. And Maggie Walker was our rep. She rocked- https://www.reico.com/

3) Shane Electric LLC. If you don't hire him, you're crazy. Worth every penny and more: 240-772-4907

4) Countertops- Ilkem Marble and Granite- Yusuf gets it DONE and a great communicator. https://www.ilkemmarblegranite.net/

5) Frederick Fence Company. Beautiful work, quality, family owned, great customer service- https://frederickfence.com/

6) Benson Garage Doors- https://bensongaragedoor.com/ Easy, quality, worked around our schedule and needs.

7) Scates Corporation. Our windows and sliding glass doors- https://scatesroofing.com/windows/ Beautiful windows! Austin made estimate easy and Jessica was the contact point of dreams. She's the best. She even saw us out in Frederick eating dinner and made it a point to come say hi.

8) MCP Chimney & Masonry- https://mcpchimneyservices.com/ Professional, honest, easy to coordinate.

9) Rob Underwood: Installer of Floors and Tiles. We bought the materials and he picked it all up and did the work himself. And when we hated the backsplash tile/grout we chose AFTER installing it, he made sure we were happy: 240-367-4906

10) Carpets Unlimited in Mt. Airy, MD- We bought our LVP floors, backsplash tile and also carpet here. Great customer service. Great prices. They also do installation too if needed. The owner will make sure you get exactly what you want. https://www.shopmtairy.com/stores/united-carpet/

11) Heil Plumbing DMV. Professional and easy to work with. I also LOVED they texted messaged a picture of the technician coming to the house. Adds a layer of transparency and safety. Especially important as a women alone at a renovation project. https://heilplumbing.com/

12) Landscaper: Wenner Landscaping & Maintenance LLC. The best communicator. He does our weekly mowing. First, I LOVE he texts me every single week to coordinate (mows when it needs and skips when it doesn't and makes sure our dogs are safe). Wenner also offered additional services to help improve our yard. And after getting several quotes just to see what everyone could do, we liked and chose Wenner best to tackle the big project. We are still working in stages to get everything done! Next up is designing how to plant and mulch the current area: add flowers, bushes, and tress. And later create even more privacy. So much more to come from Wenner. But the AFTER pictures above are all his work. https://www.wennerlandscaping.com/

13) Environmental Septic- https://www.environmentalseptic.com/ Professional, kind, easy to coordinate, really friendly. Got the job done FAST!

14) Senate Termite & Pest Control- https://www.senatetermitecontrol.com/ We had several quotes for this job and we liked them best. The mice problem wasn't just mice roaming the house but they had burrowed into the old insulation in the attic and had taken up residency there. So not only did we need to pest control, but we needed new insulation to get them OUT. Senate has been amazing!

15) Although mentioned last week: Moving Company: Peter Jacob. National Capital Moving LLC. 800-850-6353. Worth every dime! We will never pack and move ourselves again. https://www.nationcapitalmovers.com/

Have an questions about renovating? Appliances? Hardware? Carpet choice? Etc.... Please message me! I was a true and utter novice at the start of this project. Now I'm just one step ahead of a pure beginner. Ok maybe a little more but I'm definitely no professional. However, I have family members who are professionals and who guided me to THE best resources, AND allowed me to learn through my own experiences. I am forever grateful for my amazing family members: Sharon and Ted! XOXO

And while there is SO much left to do (My MIL reminded me the fun creating a house is nearly endless and definitely a process) it's time to make this space our new home! And many more projects to come!

Oh hey! You want to know about me?

I am the daughter of a loud Jewish New Yorker, born, raised & currently living in Maryland. I thrive selfishly on 1:1 conversations, fitness, acts of kindness, and nature. I am obsessed with dogs, not following recipes (and wondering why they don't work), Brach's candy corn, and warm black leggings. I am currently a full time mom, working certified ASL interpreter, novice beekeeper, ice cream maker, and home renovator. Oh and of course a constant pizza maker. I love to learn and try whatever gives me excited curiosity! I hope sharing my stories with you ignites your passionate self too. #Spreadlove
